Magnetic Drawings

Magnetite (black sand) sifted on glass, then fused in a kiln. I arranged and re-arranged magnets under sheet glass until the push-pull of magnetic fields yielded an evocative design. These pieces explore ideas related to stochastic processes, invisibility and time.  •  Link to images of black sand gathering expedition (Ocean Beach, San Francisco)
