Keepsake Revisited

When the pandemic started, I shifted away from my studio and began making intimate works at home. The process I chose was lumen printing.
The thought of sharing meals outside of my household aroused conflicting feelings and anxiety. I longed to reunite with family and friends, partake in quotidian activities, previously taken for granted.
This series of lumen prints (click for info) is about being a time traveler of sorts: revisiting objects and activities from the past in order to explore how present circumstances change their significance.
21 years ago I created a series called Keepsake: copper coated, cast hydrocal replicas of paper napkins saved from meals shared with friends, family or eaten alone. While sheltering in place, I started searching for objects to use as imagery and found a stash of napkins saved from meals shared during the Keepsake era, before time altered the meaning of such mundane objects.
